Just outside Guayaquil, you can head towards Santo Domingo and see authentic banana plantations.
Just north of Babahoyo in the province of Los Rios, is the Dole plantation. You can go inside and have a guided visit of the whole operation, including the trees to the processing to the packaging.
Leave yourself a few hours to see the entire operation. It’s very cool and worth the stop if you’re heading out of Guayaqil to the coast.
