Getting to Montevideo from Buenos Aires

Montevideo is only about 140 miles from Buenos Aires, so getting there is easy. Typically, you can fly major airlines to Buenos Aires (EZE) and take either the hydrofoil or a short plane to Montevideo (MVD).

The hydrofoil is the best choice if you’re already in Uruguay since it’s a hassle to fly the short distance alone. Buquebus is the hydrofoil operator. It’s a short 2.5 hour (or 1 hour on the express) ride that’s nice and easy from the Puerto Madero part of Buenos Aires. It should cost as low as $40 or up to $100 if you’re taking a round-trip and getting first-class service.

By air, some suggestions are flying on United’s Argentina site (http://www.united.com.ar) or Pluna (http://www.pluna.aero/english/) for cheap flights as well. Some flights are known to go as low as $40 r/t or usually around $100 r/t.
