Punta del este is the Miami of South America!
The New York Times has a nice write up of life among the moneyed class in PDE Uruguay. This is a GREAT city for New Year’s Eve – it has the fun of Miami but without the ridiculous prices. The Frugal Traveller write-up here is a good summary of life there.
